Design and document standalone and networked distributed control systems using the Zūm Wired Cat5e powerpack based controllers and associated interfaces. We'll discuss the new generation of point-and-click software start-up made possible by the Zūm platform, its compatibility with Zūm Wireless powerpacks, and build an example system. Attendees will receive a CAD block template and other tools upon completion to help design quickly and effectively with Crestron Zūm Wired.

Spacebuilder Panels & Cresnet® Systems

Friday April 30th, 2021 @ 1:00PM PST

Design and document standalone or networked centralized panel systems using Crestron’s simple panel builder tools and dynamic CAD blocks for various load types. We'll discuss various local and global control strategies of panel loads and show the basics of combining panel systems with Zūm Wired and Zūm Wireless distributed controllers. We'll discuss Cresnet basics and the different ways to network a panel. After this course, you'll be able to specify MLO and feed-through lighting panel systems in minutes, easily apply a UL924 phase loss sensor to panel-based life-safety loads, and circuit more efficiently for applications with a higher quantity of smaller zones.

Pragmatic Methods of Tunable White

The best thing since Penicillin, you say? Well, not exactly. However, it's hard to argue with the natural dark-light cycle.

What does engineering a tunable white solution look like, and which benefits will it provide in application? Do I really need color tuning, or will intensity changes achieve the same result? Are there sensors out there to capture an organic reading of color temperature values?

This course will give designers a technical foundation to apply a range of tunable white strategies in effective, realistic ways. We'll unpack some research and explore the latest calculators. We'll discuss the foundational light source data needed, basic lighting calcs & color metrics, and control system components for different budgets and design goals. After completing this course, you’ll be able to outline hardware and software requirements and succeed in planning and documenting the right system for each client.

"Run-D.M.X." PART 2/2: A Crestron DMX Day Special

Control system protocols these days are so self-absorbed (hair flip).

For this DMX Day special on 5-12, we'll pay a tribute to the gadgets orbiting Digital Multiplex 512 -- the lighting control standard turning heads since Run-D.M.C. was playing basement shows back in Queens.

Crestron lighting control systems offer various methods for architectural DMX lighting control. We'll discuss different protocols including DMX512 and sACN, software and graphical user interface (GUI) methods, planning, documentation, and the most common ways to integrate an architectural system with theatrical consoles. We'll discuss the design methods for recorded DMX shows in addition to more simplistic, static RGBW recalls seen in many basic hotel, conference room, and building façade designs.
